{"id":67,"date":"2008-12-05T13:17:12","date_gmt":"2008-12-05T18:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.esdpros.com\/?p=67"},"modified":"2008-12-05T13:17:12","modified_gmt":"2008-12-05T18:17:12","slug":"using-an-esd-chair-when-already-protected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gndzero.com\/blog\/using-an-esd-chair-when-already-protected\/","title":{"rendered":"Using an ESD Chair when already protected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> Is it necessary to use an ESD Chair when the humany body is already grounded through a Wrist Strap, Footwear or Heel Strap when working in an <a title=\"Glossary\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gndzero.com\/glossary.php#E\" target=\"_blank\">EPA<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"question\"><strong>A:<\/strong> I think it\u2019s a great idea.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I can be sitting at a workstation with an ESD flooring system, have a <a title=\"Wrist Straps\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gndzero.com\/grounding_personal_esd_wrist_straps.php\" target=\"_blank\">wrist strap<\/a> on and when I get out of my chair, not generate more than 50 volts.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I may not generate more than 5 volts.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>But what if I take my wrist strap off and jump out of my chair?<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I can easily generate 100\u2019s of volts.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Oh, by the way, jumping should not be allowed in an EPA.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>If you have great <a title=\"ESD Shoes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gndzero.com\/grounding_grounders_esd_shoes.php\" target=\"_blank\">ESD shoes<\/a> or <a title=\"Grounders\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gndzero.com\/grounding_esd_heel_foot_grounders.php\" target=\"_blank\">sole grounders<\/a> and you keep at least one foot firmly planted on the ground at all times, then maybe your <a title=\"ESD Seating\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gndzero.com\/grounding_workseating.php\" target=\"_blank\">ESD chair<\/a> is redundant, but still an added piece to the chain in your EPA system.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Q: Is it necessary to use an ESD Chair when the humany body is already grounded through a Wrist Strap, Footwear or Heel Strap when working in an EPA?
